The AP5816 is the 16-port variant of APC's integrated console + KVM combination. Same 1U slide-out 17-inch LCD console as the AP5808 (and AP5717 standalone console), but with twice the KVM port count for mid-to-large server room deployments where 9-16 servers concentrated in adjacent racks need shared local console access.
8-Port vs. 16-Port Selection
The AP5808 (8 ports) and AP5816 (16 ports) share identical console hardware. The selection criterion is port count: 8 ports for small server rooms and single-rack deployments, 16 ports for mid-sized server rooms spanning multiple racks or higher-density single-rack deployments. Stacking multiple AP5808 units to reach 16 ports is generally less economical and operationally more complex than deploying a single AP5816.
