The SCL500RM1UC is a purpose-built short-depth UPS for environments where standard 2U rackmount units physically do not fit. The 1U chassis measures under 14 inches deep — designed for shallow wall-mount enclosures, micro data centers, branch office network closets, and any rack space where conventional UPS depths cause clearance problems.
Why Short-Depth Matters
Most server racks accommodate 30-inch deep UPS units. Network closets, wall-mount enclosures, and edge compute racks frequently do not. The SCL series solves this with a compressed chassis that delivers full Smart-UPS power quality (pure sine wave, AVR, LCD) in a depth that fits where standard UPS units cannot.

- Sub-14-Inch Chassis Depth: Fits shallow rack enclosures where standard UPS units exceed available space.
- Pure Sine Wave Output: Delivers a clean pure sine wave to connected equipment. Active PFC power supplies common in modern servers and storage arrays will throw errors or shut down on the simulated/stepped-wave output produced by entry-level UPS units; pure sine eliminates that risk.
- Automatic Voltage Regulation: AVR uses a buck-and-boost transformer stage to bring out-of-range utility voltage back to nominal levels in real time. The UPS only transitions to battery for true outages, which significantly extends battery service life.
- APC SmartConnect Cloud Port: SmartConnect cloud connectivity provides remote status visibility, event alerts, and firmware update notifications through the APC SmartConnect web portal. Useful for distributed sites where deploying a dedicated NMC is impractical.
- SmartSlot Expansion: The SmartSlot bay accepts APC accessory cards including the AP9641 Network Management Card 3 for SNMP/web management, environmental monitoring modules, and dry-contact modules for building automation integration.
- LCD Diagnostic Display: The intuitive LCD interface displays load, runtime, voltage, frequency, and historical events. Technicians can verify operating conditions and adjust thresholds directly at the unit.
