The AP5808 combines the 1U slide-out LCD console of the AP5717 with an integrated 8-port analog KVM switch. Where the standalone console provides direct access to one server at a time, the AP5808 lets a single console serve up to 8 connected servers — useful for small server rooms, branch office racks, and environments where 8 servers concentrated in one rack need shared local console access.
Analog KVM vs. KVM-over-IP
The AP5808 is an analog KVM — switching happens locally, console access is local. For remote-only access, KVM-over-IP is the right answer; for local-only access with multi-server convenience, analog KVM is simpler, cheaper, and more reliable. Many environments deploy both: analog KVM in the rack for on-site work, KVM-over-IP for remote.
